Michael Dickson (born 4 January 1996) is an Australian professional American football punter for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football game League (NFL). He played college football game at Texas.
Early life [edit]
Born in Sydney, Dickson first played soccer in his youth earlier switching to Australian rules football at the age of nine.[i] In his first year of playing Australian rules football, he earned the Aureate Boot award for having the best kicking. He excelled in Australian football while playing for the Academy of New Due south Wales[2] in the local Sydney AFL competition and was after placed in the Sydney Swans talent academy as a teenager.[iii] He continued to play for UNSW and the Swans reserves[4] in the North East Australian Football League in an attempt to exist drafted to a professional AFL team[5] but was overlooked at the 2014 AFL draft.[6] Dickson'due south Australian football game career highlight occurred when he was called to play for the Swans in the 2014 NEAFL K Concluding.[seven] The Swans were defeated by a two-point margin in the last.

In his starting time season with the Longhorns, Dickson had 77 punts for three,179 net yards for a 41.3 average in 2015.[10] In the 2016 flavor, he had 65 punts for 3,079 net yards for a 47.4 average.[11] In 2017, Dickson won the Ray Guy Award and was a unanimous All-American.[12] Dickson was named MVP of the 2017 Texas Bowl.[thirteen] In his inferior season, he had 84 punts for 3,984 net yards for a 47.iv boilerplate. Dickson was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the 5th round, 149th overall, of the 2018 NFL Draft.[17] Dickson won the punting job after the Seahawks released longtime veteran Jon Ryan.[18]
He made his NFL debut in the Seahawks' flavor opener against the Denver Broncos. In the 27–24 loss, he had 6 punts for 354 internet yards.[19]
Dickson was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his operation in Calendar week 8 confronting the Detroit Lions.[xx] With minutes remaining at fourth-and-8 from their own three-yard line, Dickson was instructed to waste time in the end zone earlier giving upwardly an intentional safety. In addition to punting, Dickson has used the previously obscure drop kick maneuver on kickoffs, both onside and the standard deep kick for the Seahawks.[26] In the 2018 season, including the playoffs Dickson punted 80 times for iii,759 yards, averaging 48.2 yards per punt, the second highest in the league.[27]
Dickson was voted into the 2019 Pro Bowl, the get-go rookie punter since Dale Hatcher in 1985.[28] In addition, Dickson was named as a first-team All-Pro.[29]
In Week 2 of the 2020 flavor against the New England Patriots on Sunday Dark Football, Dickson punted four times (50-thousand average) with all four of them landing inside the xx-k line during the 35–30 win. He was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Calendar week for his performance in Week 2.[30] In Week 15 confronting the Washington Football Team, Dickson punted four times, all landing inside the 20-yard-line, earning some other NFC Special Teams Actor of the Week honor.[31]
Dickson signed a four-yr, $fourteen.5 million contract extension with the Seahawks on 4 June 2021.[32] [33]
On 7 October 2021, in the Week 5 game confronting division rival Los Angeles Rams, Dickson "double punted" for 69 yards, in which his first punt was blocked, merely he was able to recover the ball behind the line of scrimmage and punt the ball again.[34]
